The Importance of Representation in Motorsports
This past weekend at the Long Beach Grand Prix marked a full circle moment for me. Exactly one year ago, I attended my very first race weekend with Path to the Pits and stepped into an industry that felt both exciting and unfamiliar. Returning this year reminded me just how much can change in twelve months when you are surrounded by people who believe in creating opportunities, opening doors, and building a more inclusive future for motorsports.
Motorsports has historically been an industry where women and underrepresented communities have struggled to find visibility and access. While progress continues to be made, there is still so much work to do when it comes to representation both on and off the track. Programs like Path to the Pits are helping change that narrative by creating spaces where diverse voices are not only welcomed but encouraged to lead, create, and belong.

Being part of this program has shown me how important representation truly is. When young women and individuals from underrepresented backgrounds see people who look like them working in motorsports whether in engineering, media, marketing, strategy, or leadership roles, it transforms what feels possible. Representation creates confidence, ambition, and opportunity. It reminds people that there is a place for them in this industry.
Throughout the weekend, I had the opportunity to connect with incredible professionals across the paddock including Ruth Buscombe and Mark Myers. Hearing their insights and sharing the mission behind Path to the Pits reinforced how impactful programs like this can be. These conversations provided something incredibly valuable which was real access to people actively shaping the future of motorsports.
One of the most meaningful parts of the weekend was working as part of the Path to the Pits social media team. Through photography and content creation, I had the chance to tell the story of what it feels like to be part of something bigger than yourself. Capturing these moments allowed me to reflect on how powerful storytelling can be in creating visibility and inspiring future generations to pursue careers in motorsports.
This experience also allowed me to learn so much about myself within the program. Over the course of the weekend, I realized how much I’ve grown not only professionally but personally. I became more confident in my abilities, more comfortable networking within the industry, and more certain that this is a space where I want to continue building my future. Being surrounded by supportive mentors, passionate creatives, and driven individuals pushed me to step outside of my comfort zone and recognize my own potential in ways I hadn’t before.
As I continue this journey with Path to the Pits, I am excited to keep learning, creating, and advocating for greater representation within motorsports. The future of this industry becomes stronger when more voices, perspectives, and stories are given the opportunity to be seen and heard.
