Closing One Chapter, Opening Another
Graduating from California State University, Long Beach with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, concentrating in Marketing, is a milestone I'm incredibly proud of. Looking back, it's amazing to see how much has changed over the past few years.
My college journey began in 2022 when I moved to Texas after graduating from high school. At the time, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my future. I enrolled at Tarrant County College in Fort Worth, where I discovered my passion for learning and realized I wanted to continue my education. What started as uncertainty quickly turned into motivation, ultimately leading me to transfer to California State University, Long Beach in the fall of 2024.
Moving to Los Angeles completely changed the trajectory of my academic, professional, and personal life. Living in such a vibrant city allowed me to grow in ways I never imagined while being surrounded by endless opportunities within the entertainment industry. Through internships, networking events, concerts, and industry experiences, I gained a deeper understanding of the many career paths available and discovered where my own passions truly lie.
One of the most rewarding opportunities was joining Path to the Pits, a nonprofit dedicated to increasing diversity and accessibility within motorsports. As the Social Media Coordinator, I developed social media strategies, created short-form video content and graphics, managed content across platforms, and led a brand collaboration with McLaren Racing to increase engagement. This experience strengthened my skills in content creation, digital marketing, and community building while allowing me to contribute to an organization making a meaningful impact.
Living in Los Angeles also allowed me to attend countless live events where I connected with professionals throughout the entertainment industry. Those conversations and networking opportunities ultimately led me to my internship with VISCYRL Entertainment. As a Social Media Marketing Intern at VISCYRL Entertainment, I work closely with writer, producer, and artist Sawyer Utah to help grow his digital presence. My role includes researching viral trends across TikTok and Instagram Reels, compiling reports on emerging sounds, hashtags, and content opportunities, and supporting content ideation and short-form video creation. This experience has given me even more hands-on experience in the music industry and confirmed my passion for artist marketing. I have always wanted to work in music, and this only made me want it more.
Beyond the professional opportunities, I built lasting relationships with classmates, professors, mentors, and industry professionals who encouraged and supported me throughout my college journey. Every internship, project, and connection helped shape me into the person I am today.
Graduating represents more than earning a degree. It represents taking a chance on myself, embracing uncertainty, and finding a passion I never expected when I first moved away from home. Every step of my journey prepared me for this moment and for everything that comes next.
As I begin this next chapter, I'm excited to continue growing and pursuing a career in social media marketing within the entertainment industry, with a particular passion for the music industry. I'm excited to combine my creativity, marketing knowledge, and love for music to help artists tell their stories, build communities, and create meaningful connections with fans.
As I look back on this chapter of my life, I'm incredibly grateful for every opportunity, challenge, and connection that shaped my journey. From moving across the country without a clear plan to discovering my passion for marketing and the music industry, every experience has led me to where I am today. The opportunities I was given, the memories I made, the people I met, and the lessons I learned are things I'll carry with me for a lifetime, and I couldn't be more thankful for everyone who played a part in this journey.
